Architecture and Design
The Pixma MG 8120 is easily awarded with the best Pixma printers. With its compact design, glossy black façade, silver accents and a huge touch panel with a 3.5 “adjustable LCD, the Pixma 8120 is inspired by elegance and class. Luxury printers).
The top panel is Full Control Panel only. The central smack is an adjustable 3.5-inch LCD. Press the large button on the screen to lift the screen. Below the screen is an intelligent touch system that runs the full length of the top panel. This touch-sensitive control panel is differentiated from other products on the market because the buttons are activated with current flowing through the finger, unlike the actual push. And as with some other designs I’ve seen, Canon has the ability to simply turn on the buttons needed to carry out the work and do the job, making navigation easier.
The Pixma 8120 can scan up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches of document size at 4800 x 9600 dpi with maximum optical resolution. The film adapter unit is pulled from the scanner lid and placed across the glass plate to scan 35mm film, and slide it into a PC, memory card, or USB flash drive.
Pull out the output tray, lift the Pixma 8120 in the middle, and listen to six separate ink tanks, including the print head, one pigment-based PGI-225 black ink cartridge, and the dye-based CLI-226 5. Ink cartridges (CMYK + gray).
The output tray has a built-in card reader and front PictBridge/USB port on the right side. The built-in card reader is located behind a small panel and is directly below the PictBridge port. The Pixma mg 8120 is SD, SDHC, MultiMediaCard (MMC), MMC Plus, CompactFlash cards, Microdrive, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Pro Duo, as well as PictBridge supported cameras and USB flash drives.
The Pixma MG 8120 provides two-way paper feed with 150-sheet paper cassette under the output tray and 150-piece rear collapsible tray. The Pixma 8120 can handle a variety of mediums ranging from 4 x 6 photo paper to a legal size presentation paper.
Installing the Pixma MG8120
Canon always has a PIXMA printer included in the 8120, of course, as it provides a getting Started manual for Pixma printers. The installation is almost identical to the MG 5220. Unpack the package, turn on the power, install the print head, install the ink cartridges, use the provided paper to perform the alignment, insert the paper and select Connect.
If you set the MG 8120 over a wireless connection, the user must manually select the Settings menu on the LCD and then enable the wireless LAN and easy installation. The printer must find all available networks (during the review) and enter the network password (if applicable).
When this is done, you will need to install the drivers and software on the provided CD. Choose Easy Install (Install everything included on the disc) or a custom installation where users can select and choose Software. You must check the connection type (USB or network connection).
Ease of Use
Most of the features provided by the Pixma mg 8120 come with the MG 5220, but the MG 8120 has a great advantage over the sides. Excellent intelligent touch system with 3.5 inch large LCD.
The Pixma mg 8120 has a black glossy exterior, but it’s hard to take a picture of the touch panel, but when you turn off the lights in the office (yes, the staff was quite satisfied), the camera was slightly tilted and the face and hands were too bright. Did not fit the gun. As you can see below, Canon has changed the interface of the MG 8120 to three icons that fill the screen (the default is copy, scan, photo) and a total of nine main menu items. When you select a specific menu, the panel changes and only the buttons required for continuous navigation are turned on. Therefore, each menu is unique, making it easier for all users to navigate. The only standard lighting key is the navigation wheel, the home and Back buttons
For example, if you select Copy, the panel displays a copy start key for black and white, plus and minus keys for number of copies, and seven additional buttons, such as keys for three submenus, in addition to the standard selections.
I couldn’t help but press the key at first. The old habits become more and more difficult. However, after using the MG 8120 in a day, I saw an immediate response whenever the intelligent touch system detected my finger. (or I can guess the current my fingers are inside.) While I do not review the touch system for vivo, the intelligent Touch System of the Canon Pixma mg 8120 should be called the most responsive touch panel of the touch Panel reviewed by the printer. It also stops pressing the panel, so it won’t mess up with the finger print.
One of the nine main menus with the Pixma mg 8120 installed was the slide Show menu, which I didn’t really get value for. I mean that it is cute, but if you try to display pictures from memory card it will probably be in digital photo frame. Also, the effect was that the picture was shaken (no better words), it was a strange shape. I think it would have been tossed but it would not affect my overall experience.
As mentioned in the Pixma MG5220 reviews, the Canon Pixma software has been updated to the new MG product line, but the default format remains the same. For example, Canon Solution menu is the new Canon Solution menu EX, which offers seven menus, including two menus with shortcuts for printing photos and scanning images. However, the new Solution menu allows users to bypass shortcuts, access applications directly, connect to online Canon add-ons, purchase consumables, get help, and adjust settings.
Unlike the MG 5220, there are only two light bulb shortcut menus in the lower right corner of the 8120. One light bulb immediately runs the Solution Menu ex, and the other allows the user to hide the aforementioned bulbs. Weird thing.
The MP Navigator ex software has been upgraded to version 4.0 and has different settings, but users can find the latest Navigator EX 4.0, which is easy to use, such as last generation. Performs an automatic scan, automatically splits multiple images into separate scans, and removes binding shadows for book scans.
As with the Pixma mg 5220, the MG 8120 MP Navigator Ex offers a memory card/flash drive import option, which brings all the information from the memory card or USB flash drive that the user is connected to the printer, do not require a USB cord or upload all photos using an external card reader.
The Canon Easy-photoprint ex looks almost the same as the previous software included with the Pixma printers previously reviewed except for importing photos from photo Sharing site tools (small districts). At the time of this writing, users can import photos from Flickr, but we plan to introduce other photo sharing sites in the future. As mentioned in the previous Pixma reviews, the Easy-photoprint EX software is very easy to select the image, select the paper, and then choose the layout and editing options before hitting the printout.
Canon has included all new Full HD Movie Print software in the new release but must be used with a Canon HD EOS DSLR or PowerShot Point-and-shot Digital camera. We are working on a review of this software through our sister site, Digitalcamerareview, which will be available late next week.
As with the MG 5220, there was no easy way to access the My Printer software (it was under the impression that the new model was removed). If you open a previous version, MG8120 (MG8100 series). So there is that.
